Made in Libya Starts Here

Food is a part of everyday life, but much of what comes to store shelves has a much longer story behind it. It has to be made, processed, packaged, stored, and delivered before it ever gets to the person buying it. Zulfa Food Industries would like to see that story play out in Libya more. Zulfa is being developed as a Libyan food and beverage manufacturer with a new production facility that will bring modern processing and packaging capabilities together under one operation. The company will focus on producing dairy products, juices and other beverages for the Libyan market. There has been a lot of preparation for that first stage. Behind every carton that lands on a supermarket shelf there are production lines, packaging systems, storage facilities, utilities, quality controls and the people who make sure everything works as it should. As it moves toward production Zulfa is putting those different pieces together. The company also works with Tetra Pak, its strategic partner in packaging solutions. The relationship will bring international experience in food processing and packaging to Zulfa’s development, while discussions between the two companies are already looking forward to future expansion and new product development. But Zulfa is not just defined by technology. The people who operate the equipment, maintain the plant, ensure quality and keep the production line moving will define the company. Part of building a manufacturer that can continue to grow, rather than just make its first range of products, is developing that experience locally. Libya has a large daily demand for food and beverages, and many of the products involved are traditionally supplied by imports. Zulfa sees an opportunity to produce more of those goods locally and, over time, give consumers a wider choice of products made in Libya. That’s still the early days of the story for the company. Its facilities are being prepared, its production systems are coming together and the first products have yet to hit the shelves. Zulfa is now getting closer to the point when its products will move from production lines to store shelves and into homes across Libya. As the company begins this next stage, this website will share its progress, products and the people behind them.
