What Goes Into Making A Drink Before It Reaches Your Glass

Work continues at Zulfa Food Industries’ new factory in Benghazi, with the team having been busy preparing the equipment and systems required for production. New machinery has arrived in recent weeks, generators have been positioned and engineers have been working on the factories electrical systems.

Two large steam boilers from the Italian manufacturer Mingazzini have a capacity of producing up to 7,000 kilograms of steam per hour and will be used to facilitate some key processes in the production of juice.

Steam is required for operations like mixing, pasteurizing and heating. It is also used to wash equipment that comes into contact with products. Reliable steam is vital to keep production running smoothly and to ensure that the factory meets food safety and hygiene standards. The boilers are a big addition to the factory but there is still work to be done before they can be used.

Meanwhile the team has also been working on the factory's electricity supply by moving generators into the main electrical substation building for installation. The next day, the team continued work at the external power station, preparing the generators for the next stage of electrical connections. Zulfa’s management also met with consultants and technical teams to review the current progress, consider technical issues that still needed attention and agreed the next steps.

Much of this work is done before the production lines start running, but it is a crucial part of getting the factory ready. The equipment must be properly installed and electrical and steam systems must be prepared before the machinery can be tested and used for production. Zulfa is building the plant to produce juices and other beverages for the Libyan market. With the arrival of more equipment and ongoing installation work, the factory is getting closer and closer to the point where production can begin.

The project team is now working to complete the remaining installations and ensure the disparate systems are prepared to work together. Several important pieces of equipment have been put in place so far and there is more work to be done before the factory is ready to go into operation.
